Ninety Toastmasters who attended Founder’s District Spring Marketing Workshop, came away with unbreakable rule #1: Consistency beats Ability! The remaining rules can be found in Cathey Armillas book: The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing: 9 ½ Ways To Get People To Love You.

Cathey Armillas, three-time DTM, PDG, and Darren LaCroix, World Champion Speaker, filled the audience with laughter and fresh marketing ideas through interactive presentations on Saturday, March 7th, at Santa Anita Church in Arcadia. Both Speakers provided workshop attendees with steps to take to speak outside of Toastmasters for fun, profit, and club building.

Lauren Kelly, DTM, PID, PDG, gave tips on how to earn Club Coach credit. She invited Dan Cossack, DTM, to share his experience as a club coach. Dan inspired us with how he grew personally from coaching Club 2592 Ingram Microphones. Both speakers generated interest in leading a club to victory as a Club Coach.

Region 10 Advisor, Joan Lewis, DTM, PDG, walked us through the entire process of Club Mentoring. Joan alerted the audience to dynamic Mentoring materials available on the TI web site.

Attendees’ feedback comments reveal the flavor of Founder’s District March 7th Marketing Workshop.

“Thank you for the great event!”

“Outstanding. The two speakers were great; our other instructors were very good, and shared with us a wealth of needed information… thought it was well worth our time… lunch was great… there was a real sense of belonging. Not only did we see friends, but met some very nice people as well.”
Raymond McCullough, CC, CL President of Challengers-734

“Thank you for all your hard work… a very informative workshop with a lot of great takeaways! (Wished) caterer provided menus and/or business cards. His food was excellent…would love to leave his restaurant a positive Yelp and go there again.”
Karen Marie Baumgartner, ACG, ALB Division H Governor

“Thank you for organizing a first-rate Marketing Workshop. It takes time and much effort and a great deal of planning.

The attending club members were very pleased and enthusiastic. My impression is that all the presenters and speakers were fabulous. Wished more club members could have attended to benefit from so much needed information and inspiration.

Suggestion to strengthen attendance: From the beginning of the Toastmasters Year, inform Division Governors, Area Governors, and Officers to take ownership and actively promote District events.” Ligia Molina, DTM

“Really appreciate the Educational Workshop… great profile speakers; everything was amazing including your special attention to delicious refreshments and lunch, and sharing with the fellow Toastmasters. Congratulations! Excellent job.”
Gladys Arce, ACS, ALB

It took almost a village to put on a good show. Many thanks go to the many volunteers, especially Naga Net, ACB, ALB, who made all arrangements for the venue, light breakfast, and delicious lunch catered by Pasadena’s All India Café. Through his connection, we were given $120 worth of complimentary coffee from Starbucks (Rosemead and Foothill intersection in Pasadena).

Vincent Thieu Vo, ACB, ALB, on-site Chair, arrived at 7AM, followed shortly by John Foley, CC, who served as Sergeant At Arms, placing Directional Traffic Signs in strategic places, setting up the impressive venue with a team of helpers, opening the various components of the workshop and introducing the Master of Ceremonies at the beginning of each workshop segment.

The entire event was delightfully emceed by Lionnel Yamenou, ACB, ALB.

Many of the attendees stayed after the event, folding tables and chairs and storing them away. Many helped tidy up the place which looked as good— or better—than when we arrived!

Until next time…
