Membership Building and Retention.
Recruiting new members are retaining existing members are important to maintaining a healthy club. Membership building contests are great ways to build your club. Each year Toastmasters International sponsors three membership building contests.

The Smedley Award: Aug 1 - Sep 30
Ralph Smedley and a few men met in the Santa Ana, California, YMCA and conducted the first meeting of what would eventually evolve into what we know today as Toastmasters. One person initiated a program that would go on to affect millions of people. Will your club honor Dr. Smedley this year?

Talk Up Toastmasters: Feb 1 - Mar 31
Consider planning an Open House, with publicity in the local papers and on cable TV. Or deliver a Speechcraft program to the local community, educating them on speech construction & delivery.

Beat The Clock: May 1 - Jun 30
Finish the year with a bang! Get every club member involved. Everyone brings a guest to every meeting in May and June. Make it a contest, and recognize achievement at your club's year-end awards ceremony.
