Toastmasters International offers a series of eLearning tools called Club Officer Essentials.  This series is a brief introduction to what each officer role is and what it entails. They're about 5 minutes long and can give you a great head start. NOTE: They DO NOT replace the training that you need to attend at LACE, but they do help to give you a good idea of what to expect.

If you listen and watch the Club Officer session for your position, select your officer position from the menu on the left and take the corresponding quiz. Afer you complete the quiz, you will receive a coupon to attend LACE for only $6.00!! That's HALF of the normal price!!!

But wait, there's MORE!!! If all SEVEN officers in your club listen and watch their respective sessions, then EVERY member of your club will have to the opportunity to attend LACE for FREE!!!! That's a savings of $12.00 per club member!!! What a deal!

Distinguished Member Plan

How the Program Works

The Distinguished Member Plan is an annual plan, running from July 1 through June 30.   The plan is simple.  Commit yourself to complete one communication award and one leadership award during the year.  Anyone who completes both awards are awarded the Distinguished Member Award for that year.


What You Can Do

Download the Distinguished Member Form and fill out page 1. Submit this form to your club VP Education.

Job Description:

  1. Serve as second-ranking member of the executive committee, presiding over that body and the district council in the absence of the district governor.
  2. Strive for accomplishment of district educational goals and achievement of Distinguished District.
  3. Promote achievement of Competent Communicator (CC) and Advanced Communicator (AC) awards for all members.
  4. Strive to make every club in the district a Distinguished Club. Coordinate the promotion of the Distinguished Club Program and the Club Success Plan.
  5. Plan, organize and direct the district training programs.
  6. Determine training needs in consultation with district team members.
  7. Develop training content, methods and instructional aids using Toastmasters International training program.
  8. Ensure that division, area and club officers are properly trained to fulfill their roles and responsibilities.
  9. Provide ongoing leadership training for all district officers as part of district conferences, executive committee meetings, etc.
  10. Select training coordinators and facilitators needed to conduct district training programs.
  11. Promote personal growth through the Toastmasters International educational program both inside and outside of Toastmasters in coordination with district public relations officer.
  12. Foster excellence in club educational programming through the use of Toastmasters programs such as Speechcraft, Success/Leadership, Success/ Communication, The Better Speaker Series, The Successful Club Series and other resources.
  13. Plan, organize and direct the district conferences.
  14. Appoint a conference chairman with approval of the district governor.
  15. Supervise site selection, educational content, speech contests and all other aspects of the conference.
  16. Encourage increased attendance and participation through promotional efforts in conjunction with the public relations officer.
  17. Ensure a high quality event representing an outstanding example of district excellence.
  18. Coordinate and supervise the International Speech Contest and other district speech contests at the club, area, division and district levels.
  19. Supervise educational and training programs, ensuring that people are properly recognized for achievement.
  20. Provide assistance and back-up to the district governor as needed.
  21. Prepare successor to assume office, completing steps necessary for an orderly transfer of office by June 30.
