You Can Let the Cat Out of the Bag

By Public Relations Officer Colette Gardner, DTM, PDG

Are you dog-tired of people who haven’t heard about Toastmasters? Here are the bear essentials for letting the world know:

Hog the media. Invite your local newspaper, radio and television stations, and cable networks to do a story about your club.

Hound your friends and co-workers. Describe how they can benefit from the Toastmasters program.

Clever like a fox is how you should act. Ask people what they hope to get out of the club so you can better explain how Toastmasters will help them.

Treat guests deerly. Welcome them to your club, and answer any questions they may have. Above all, make sure the meeting doesn’t boar them.

Bee as stubborn as a mule if your guests don’t understand what they will gain from being a member. Everyone can benefit from Toastmasters!

Remember the guests of today are the gnu members of tomorrow.
