The Time to Find Your Next Leaders Is Now
If there is one thing that I’ve learned during my term
as a Division Governor, it’s the importance of implementing leadership
development at the onset of the term. You cannot wait until March or April
to begin selecting members to serve as an Area Governor or a club officer
for the next term.

Division Treasurer: A Leadership Role You Might Not Have
Considered
My purpose in this article is to take the mystery out of
being Division Treasurer. It is an important leadership role. After all,
along with the Division Governor, you do have control over and responsibility
for managing the money coming into and going out of the Division bank account.
This is a wonderful way to practice your leadership skills as you work with
all the Division and Area leaders.

Clubs
Orange upon a Time
Professional speakers spend 75% of their time telling stories.
They do this for two reasons: audiences enjoy stories and audiences remember
stories. Professional speakers say, “You don’t have to be funny,
unless you want to be paid.” We can also say, “You don’t
have
to use stories, unless you want to be remembered.”

A “Professional Melting Pot”: Club 6366 Provides
the
Toastmasters Learning Experience to Immigrants and Others
Beyond the official Toastmasters mission, an unspoken goal in the Indian Professional
club is to help immigrants get over the language barrier that exists. Our club
is very sensitive to people who don’t speak perfect English and provides
them a chance to improve with practice and some first-rate tips. After seeing
so many people use public speaking to improve themselves, it makes you wonder
why more don’t. Seeing the stagnation that befalls so many others makes
you want to achieve better communication skills also.

Historically Speaking Toastmasters
Yes, some may be unfamiliar with history because it happened
a long time ago, but this certainly is not the case for members of Historically
Speaking Toastmasters. For them, history is a living entity, and they are
part of its dynamic development.

Professional Speakers Club
Have you ever felt you are one of the better speakers in
your club and only go to help others grow? That may seem unfair. At times,
it would fit most of us that have been in Toastmasters for more than 3 or
4 years. What you need is an advanced club that will challenge you to move
your personal skills bar a little higher. We are lucky in Founder’s
District because we have a few specialty or advanced clubs. These clubs normally
meet only once a month and are not intended to replace your present club.
In fact, they serve members best when they belong to the regular club and
also the advanced club.

Reports
District Governor
Over the past several years, I have become increasingly more
dismayed over the de-emphasization of speech contests in Founder’s
District. I can’t prove it, but I believe there is a definite link
between the diminishing support for speech contests and our increasing failure
to retain members.
