Division G–The Golden Giants

By Richard Daugherty, DTM, Division Governor

Richard DaughertyDivision G is getting into high gear in the area of educational awards, with Club 7368, Possibilities Unlimited in Mission Viejo, as the Division front-runner with two CTMs and a whopping seven ATMs!

Louise Hyland of the Mission Viejo Toastmasters Club 4552 recently put together a team to complete a Youth Leadership program for the Freshman Model United Nations at Mission Viejo High School. Six separate sessions were conducted each week, with 15 to 20 students per session.

Three Toastmasters coordinators (Louise, Division A Governor Norm Stein and his wife Frannie) and a parent of one student helped to make this an extremely successful event. Almost 120 students graduated from the course! The high school is considering making this a yearly event for incoming freshmen. Congratulations to Louise and her team!

Area G3, headed by Governor H.D. “Hot Deal” Boesch, is in the Division lead with 62 percent of all officers trained. HD has made it a goal this year to increase the commitment of Club officers to be trained at every opportunity, and it shows! We were fortunate to have Jack Dhuwalia, past Area F-4 Governor, step in at the last second at our Division G Officer Training on 1/29 to train our VPs of Education. Thanks so much for stepping up, Jack!
