"So...
could Division F sweep the District-level contests for the whole year?" Wow!
No pressure! I'm not sure who was more nervous at Founder's Conference/Contest-me
or the contestants! Imagine the excitement, celebration and relief that burst
forth when we could finally exclaim, "Clean Sweep for Division F!"
Not only had Division F already won the District-level Fall 2004 contests, now
we would honor the achievements of Spring 2005 Table Topics Winner Lee MacMorris
and International Speech Winner Jerry McMillan (who will represent the District
at the Regional-level, Burbank, June 17-18).The Conference theme "Go for
the Gold" reminds us that though we celebrate individual accomplishments,
no race is run alone-no victory is won alone. Coaches, torch lighters, team members,
the roaring crowd-where would we be without them? Our mentors shape our proficiencies
into practiced expertise. Previous competitors and champions show us what is
possible and light our pathways. Our clubs support our efforts consistently,
tirelessly and compassionately.
Without open ears and welcoming hearts we would never fully understand the power
of our words to motivate and inspire changed lives. With our collective energies,
the possibility of reaching bronze, silver or gold becomes reality.
Are you experiencing "the thrill of victory"? If so, then well done!
(Remember to share your secrets to success!) But if "the agony of defeat" seems
be your constant companion, get back on track by asking the coaches for more
help, learning from those who've gone before you, relying on membership assistance
and listening to the audiences applauding you. Many people are standing up for
your winning efforts-cheering for the marathon runner who endures, not just the
sprinter. Keep your finish line in sight-we can't wait for your award ceremony!
Special congratulations to all the Champions of Division F.
