New Bilingual Club Charters in Three Meetings

Los Escogidos

by Fred Springer, DTM

On Sunday, November 13, the 27-member Los Escogidos Toastmasters Club, #838938, was presented with a Toastmasters lectern during its charter ceremony for chartering in just three meetings. The bilingual club, which meets at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, was the first club to earn this honor. The new club, whose name means “the Chosen Ones,” chartered on September 30 and is a Division C club in Area C1.

All Los Escogidos members are bilingual to some degree, and all want to improve their English communication skills through the club. One member is a native English-speaker who joined because he wants to improve his Spanish-speaking skills.

Club President Oscar Navarro was clearly moved when presented the charter by Founder’s District Governor Ken Sisco, DTM. He responded, “Wow, I’m a little bit speechless. I really didn’t know what to think about the charter program. It is more than I expected. On behalf of the club, thanks to all of you who helped get this club started.” To learn more about the Los Escogidos Toastmasters Club, call (714) 229-9760.
