DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S AWARD FOR CONTEST EXCELLENCE

Best Area Contest and Best Division Contest

The criteria for best contest were very simple; the trophy went to the Area Governor and Division Governor that hosted the biggest, single Area Speech Contest or Division Speech Contest, BASED ON ATTENDANCE, including everyone there: audience, contestants, judges, helpers, etc., etc, etc.

The only proviso was that in addition to having a successful contest, the Governor must be performing all his/her duties as Governor, as well. A thousand people at the contest would not win, if you were not doing your job as Governor.

Fortunately, there was no need for any subjectivity whatsoever. Lee Pound had a monster Area Contest with sixty-five people in attendance; moreover, his Area G-1 is already distinguished.

Likewise, Edna Duffy had a monster Division Contest with eighty-nine people in attendance; and her effectiveness as a Division Governor is unquestioned.

There were also four trophies given to Area Governors, who while not rising to the standard of Area G-1, were nevertheless the best in their Divisions. These were Gregg Van Citters for B-5; Elisa Roddy for C-4; Terri Sebastian for E-2 and Lorinda Chard for F-5.

There are still others who had attendance of thirty-five or more, who certainly deserve Honorable Mention. They are Laverne Harhay for C-1; Elizabeth McLeod for C-5; Beatrice Jones-Wingate for E-1; Mallik Banda for E-4; Dimitra Jones for E-5; Pamela Rocke for G-3; and John Maginnis for G-4.

Well Done and Congratulations to all.
