It is the District Chief Judge Chair’s responsibility to ensure all contests are managed effectively and orderly from beginning to end. Running a contest smoothly and timely is crucial to the success of the event not only for the contestants but also for the audience. The Chief Judge plays an important role in achieving these objectives.

To ensure everyone assigned to a role is aware of what’s expected of him or her the Chief Judge must brief everyone of all the rules to be followed on the day of the contest to prevent disqualification. Roles for the contest must be filled are:

• Contest Masters
• Contest Chairperson
• Judges
• Timers
• Tellers
• Sergeant at Arms
• Announcers of Results

The Chief Judge must ensure that all necessary forms and ballots are available and accounted for during the contest.
