Plan a Successful Speech Contest
Contest organizers, the following is one way (not the only way) to organize a successful Speech Contest. It works at either the Area or the Division level.
- As soon as possible, with your Area or Division Council, determine the date, time and location for the contest.
- As soon as possible, with your Area or Division Council, determine how the contest tasks will be divided. Below is a checklist for completing the general tasks for getting the job done. It is perfect for dividing the tasks between 4 Clubs or 4 Areas. If you have more than 4 clubs or areas, assign weaker clubs or areas to work on one of the harder tasks with a stronger Club or Area.
- FOLLOW-UP!! FOLLOW-UP!! FOLLOW-UP!! As Kent Jones pointed out, during his training session, you must never assume that everyone is doing his/her job, you must make sure with follow-ups and reports.
- We have found that this method makes it very simple for you to put on a successful contest, without getting caught up in the details that will drive you crazy and burn you out. Your job is to lead; not to do.
