Contest Management Guidelines
Contest Management = Project Management
Planning + Delegation + Supervision = Successful Event
A Successful Event has:
- Fun & Joy for Attendees
- Stress-free Environment for Contestants
- Invisible Organization
- Plan
- List of functions/tasks with deadlines
- Budget
- Contest Script
- Delegation
- Find volunteers, define exactly what you expect, get commitment
- Option: 2-step delegation: Delegate task to a Club Officer, who then delegates to Club Members
(NOTE: Work directly with the club member to ensure fulfillment.)
- Supervision
- Define milestones with deadlines if there are bigger tasks
- Contact every one at least once a week
- Run a Briefing Meeting a few days before the contest
Troubleshooting:
Be prepared to work on “Plan B”
- List of Substitutions
- 2 sets of equipment
- Prepared (funny) statements for problems (microphone, missing person, etc.)
