Founder’s District Public relations Report
District Executive Council Meeting – October 2004

Spanish Fiesta

On September 11th the Spanish Fiesta chaired by Barbara Barrientos, was held at the Crystal Cathedral. Jim Schniderman was the winner of both the Evaluation Contest and the Humorous contest. Most of the contestants were either from Los Determenados or Latin Leaders and you could tell the audience enjoyed what they had to say. As a non-Spanish speaking person, it was very interesting to watch the body language and hand gestures of the Humorous Contest contestants as they spoke — we could all take a lesson from them!

Founder Mailing

Special thanks to Division C Governor, Don Stewart, Bulk Mail Chair, Lauren Kelly, and everyone that came out on September 25 to put labels and on tabs on the Founder newsletter and the Fall Conference registration mailer. Mark Flores, last year’s Bulk Mail Chair, and Bill Fisher, last year’s PRO also came out to help and shared ‘tips of the bulk mail trade’ which contributed to everything running very smoothly. Also, Saturday was the unveiling of the Founder’s new format, and it was well received. Kudos to Elizabeth Anderson, the editor!

District Web Site

The Founder’s District web site continues to blossom as Bob Hudack and the Web Team (Elaine Randolph and Steve Wiideman) constantly update the information being sent to them for posting. You will notice at the bottom of the web pages the notation of when it was lasted updated.

The Web Team offers these suggestions to help make your job easier:

Presidential Visit/Fall Conference

The PRO Team is very busy working with the Presidential Visit Committee and Laurie Molsberry, the Conference Chair, to promote Toastmasters’ 80th Anniversary Homecoming Celebrations on November 5-6. Currently we’re focused on setting up TV and radio interviews. If you have any contacts in these industries, please email me at adyer@foundersdistrict.org with the information.

Doo Dah Parade

Arvee Robinson is chairing Founder’s Districts’ participation at this year’s event on November 21st in Pasadena. Since Toastmasters is the world’s best keep secret, this year we want to attract the attention of the media so the world will know about us! We’ve got some exciting plans in the works, so keep checking your email review our web site to find out how you can be part of the fun in the Doo Dah Parade!
