Governor’s Report for DEC Meeting October 7, 2004.

Division A conducted a successful Fall Speech Contest on Saturday, October 2, 2004. The winner in the Evaluation Contest was Mark Perew, DTM. The second place winner was Danilo Reed, CTM. In the Humorous Speech Contest Stew McKinley was the first place winner and Marc Olson earned second place. Congratulations to all the contestants who entertained and enlightened all who attended. Congratulations also to our Division Contest Chair Mary Berg, DTM ably assisted by Sandi Queen, ATM-S/CL and Gail Greene ATM-S/CL, who served as the Contest Opportunity Chair.

Club visits are progressing in a timely manner and all reports should be submitted by the due date. It seems apparent that most of the renewals will be submitted on time. The numbers stand at 72% as of today. Area Governor reports reveal concerns about a loss of membership. Area Governors are contacting clubs and will be working with V.P. Membership officers to bring the numbers up to goal levels.

Assistant Division Governor for Marketing, Barbara Barrientos, ATM-G/CL is working to establish a new club with a “Demo. Meeting” to be scheduled soon. She also is developing another lead in cooperation with Area A-1 Governor, Maria Escutia, CTM.
